Up North Prevention Partners with Alpena Agencies for Annual Prescription Drug Take Back Day

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, Up North Prevention partnered with the Alpena Senior Citizens Center and the Alpena County Sheriff Department to provide senior citizens with a safe, convenient way to dispose of unwanted or unused prescription medications. This event marked the sixth year of collaboration between local agencies working together to help prevent medication misuse and ensure medications are disposed of safely and responsibly.

Another Take Back Day will be held this spring, giving community members another opportunity to clean out medicine cabinets and safely discard expired or unneeded medications. All medications collected during these events are securely transported to the DEA for final disposal.
