Crawford County Prevention Efforts Support Community Wellness and Outreach

This month, Up North Prevention provided the Crawford County Jail with 50 wellness bags for individuals returning to the community following incarceration. Each bag included toiletries, socks, a pen and notepad, community resources, and naloxone. Sergeant Tessner shared that the individuals receiving the bags have been very appreciative of these supplies and resources.

In recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department hosted a fun “Flee and Elude Race” alongside its medication take-back event. Deputies dressed in orange jumpsuits participated in the race, providing plenty of entertainment for those in attendance! Up North Prevention hosted a resource table, connecting with community members and distributing medication lockboxes, medication disposal bags, and naloxone.

Prevention efforts also continue to focus on gathering responses to the Young Adult Survey. Later this month, Up North Prevention will visit Kirtland Community College to host an outreach table, encourage survey participation, and offer a gift basket as an incentive. Additional outreach at the college is planned for November. Staff have also been connecting with young adults throughout the community to encourage participation in the survey.

Overall, it has been a productive month of community outreach, collaboration, and prevention efforts in Crawford County!
