Youth leaders of Tawas and Oscoda joined other northeast Michigan students today from Alcona, Alpena, Atlanta, Rogers City and Posen to participate in leadership training provided by Students Leading Students (SLS), a Nationally Recognized Prevention Program. With over 56 registered, these youth are learning all about becoming leaders.
Today we Bowled and did some axe throwing in Tawas all while interacting with the different SLS groups. This was the second of three summer trainings, with kicks offs planned in all districts for next school year - engaging the broader base of youth in positive pro social prevention focused efforts. This program was made possible through coalition funding provided through Michigan Prevention Network and the Iosco Substance Free Coalition. Thanks to Up North Prevention for orchestrating a regional experience of this magnitude!
