Alcona Students Leading Students Members Launch Spring Project

Members of Alcona High School’s Students Leading Students (SLS) chapter participated in a school-wide assembly in April to talk about their spring project that will be launching in May.   Members outlined the project, entitled, “Share a secret” – based on the social media phenomenon, “Find a secret, leave a secret” which allows strangers to read an anonymous message that documents someone else’s struggles, while also leaving their own message.  These anonymous messages will be collected through the month of May, then screened and compiled by the SLS Advisor to be presented by members in June at the next school-wide assembly.  The focus of the project is to demystify mental health issues, normalizing the struggles that other students are going through, normalizing seeking help, and increasing connection to, and empathy for, fellow students. \
