Reconnecting to Serve: A Veteran Bond Strengthens Prevention Work in Oscoda County

On Thursday, Oscoda County Prevention Specialist Randy Mullard joined Deputy Todd Easterday at the annual Oscoda County Project Connect event. While the two were there to offer support and resources to the community, their presence together carried a deeper significance.

Mullard and Easterday are both retired Army veterans who served together in the early 2000s. After years apart, they recently reconnected—rekindling a bond forged through service and shared experiences. Now, they're teaming up once again—this time, not in uniform, but in a new mission: to serve and strengthen Oscoda County.

Their renewed partnership brings together years of military discipline, leadership, and a deep commitment to public service. Whether it's prevention education, community engagement, or supporting local families, Mullard and Easterday are proving that the spirit of service doesn’t end with retirement—it simply finds new purpose.

The Project Connect event was just the beginning. As the two veterans join forces, Oscoda County can look forward to more collaboration focused on safety, prevention, and community resilience.
