Posen Vikings Softball Team Supports Mental Health Awareness Month

The Posen Vikings girls’ softball team demonstrated their commitment to Mental Health Awareness Month by swapping their traditional Viking red socks for green ones during a recent game. The team hosted the Rogers City Hurons in a makeup game, rescheduled after the original was postponed due to inclement weather.

By wearing green socks, the athletes showed solidarity with those affected by mental health challenges. Green is widely recognized as the color symbolizing mental health awareness, aiming to spark conversations, reduce stigma, and promote emotional well-being. Across the nation, green ribbons and accessories are used to encourage dialogue and advocate for mental health support and positive change.

The Vikings’ choice to wear green serves as a visual reminder of the importance of mental health and the value of support within communities and teams alike.
