Posen Students Leading Students (SLS) received exciting news: they placed in the top 10 for their efforts in the Strive 4 A Safer Drive campaign. The SLS chapter at Posen High School launched their campaign in November 2024 and wrapped up their activities last month. Throughout the campaign, students met numerous criteria, including seat belt safety observations and hosting educational events.
Their primary goal was to raise awareness about distracted driving among the community and students from elementary through high school. Using the theme “TAKE THE PLEDGE,” they educated students, teachers, and community members on the dangers of distracted driving. The campaign highlighted the three types of distracted driving—cognitive, manual, and visual—with one event featuring a partnership with the Michigan State Police.
The group organized activities that engaged high school and elementary students, teachers, staff, and the broader community as ongoing reminders of the risks associated with distracted driving. Their message was simple and powerful: “TAKE THE PLEDGE.”
Other top winners included Hillman Schools, also placing in the top 10. The top three winners were: 1st place – H.H. Dow High School, 2nd place – Brandywine High School, and 3rd place – Plymouth High School.
