Up North Prevention Partners with Rogers City Area Senior & Community Center to Expand Naloxone Access

Up North Prevention has partnered with the Rogers City Area Senior & Community Center to install a naloxone distribution box, increasing access to the life-saving medication for residents throughout the community.

The naloxone distribution box provides free naloxone kits and educational materials for individuals, families, caregivers, and visitors. Naloxone is a safe, effective medication that can quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, restoring normal breathing until emergency medical personnel arrive. Expanding access to naloxone is recognized as one of the most effective strategies for reducing overdose deaths and improving community preparedness.

This partnership supports Up North Prevention's ongoing efforts to increase awareness about overdose prevention while reducing barriers to obtaining naloxone. The organization continues to provide education, prevention programs, and resources that promote healthy communities and encourage conversations about substance use, recovery, and mental health.

In addition to making naloxone readily available, the distribution box includes educational materials that help community members recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, learn how to administer naloxone, and understand the importance of calling 911 immediately during an overdose emergency.

Other naloxone distribution box locations in Presque Isle County include the Presque Isle County Council on Aging (Onaway and Posen), Meds Café, Thunder Bay Community Health Clinic, District Health Department No. 4, and Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health.
