Up North Prevention visited Kirtland Community College on August 25 to connect with students and share substance use prevention resources.

During the event, prevention staff provided educational materials, naloxone demonstrations, and free naloxone. Students also received medication lock boxes and lock bags to help promote safe storage and reduce access to medications and other substances. The Up North Prevention popcorn machine was also a hit with students and provided a fun way to engage them in conversation about prevention.

Up North Prevention is also working with Kirtland Community College to plan a Substance Use Awareness Day in February. The interactive event will engage students while raising awareness about substance use and the risks associated with driving under the influence.

Up North Prevention will return to Kirtland Community College on September 29 from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. to continue connecting students with prevention education and resources.
