Students Leading Students Kicks Off the School Year at Tawas Area Schools

The start of a new school year is always exciting, and Students Leading Students (SLS) was proud to be part of this year’s Back-to-School Event at Tawas Area Schools!

The SLS table gave students and families an opportunity to learn more about the program, connect with members, and discover ways to get involved during the upcoming school year.

One of the highlights of the event was partnering with the Iosco Substance Free Coalition to bring the Hidden in Plain Sight trailer to the school. This interactive educational experience helps parents and other adults recognize items, behaviors, and warning signs that may be associated with youth substance use. It was a great opportunity to bring prevention education directly to families while encouraging important conversations about substance use and prevention.

The Back-to-School Event also provided an opportunity to introduce SLS to new students, reconnect with returning students, and build excitement for the year ahead.

The SLS display inside the school serves as a positive reminder that every student has something valuable to contribute:

The start of a new school year is always exciting, and Students Leading Students (SLS) was proud to be part of this year’s Back-to-School Event at Tawas Area Schools!

Our SLS table gave students and families an opportunity to learn more about what Students Leading Students is all about.

One of the highlights of the event was partnering with the Iosco Substance Free Coalition to bring the Hidden in Plain Sight trailer to the school. This interactive educational experience helps parents and other adults learn to recognize items, behaviors, and warning signs that may be associated with youth substance use. It was a great opportunity to bring prevention education directly to families while opening the door for important conversations.

The Back-to-School Event also gave us a chance to introduce SLS to new students, reconnect with returning students, and start building excitement for the year ahead.

Our SLS display inside the school is another reminder that every student has something valuable to contribute:

You are kind.

You are capable.

You are talented.

You are important.

You are amazing.

You are welcome here.

SLS looks forward to another great year of empowering students to make a positive difference in their school and community!
