Remembering Lives and Supporting Hope on Overdose Awareness Day

On August 31, 2026, Up North Prevention joined community members, families, and local organizations at the Botanical Gardens in Traverse City to recognize National Overdose Awareness Day. The annual observance provides an opportunity for communities to come together to remember those whose lives have been lost to overdose and to show support for individuals, families, and loved ones who have been impacted by substance use.

The gathering created a meaningful space for remembrance, connection, and hope. Community members came together to honor loved ones, support those who are grieving, and raise awareness about the importance of prevention, treatment, recovery, and reducing the stigma surrounding substance use. Events like this also remind us of the importance of looking out for one another and connecting people with resources and support when they need it.

Up North Prevention was honored to be part of this community gathering and to stand alongside local partners, families, and community members in remembering lives lost while supporting hope, healing, and recovery. Through continued education, awareness, prevention, and connection, we can work together to reduce stigma, save lives, and strengthen our community.
