Live Well Kalkaska Substance Free Coalition Supports 7th Annual International Overdose Awareness Event

On August 31, the Live Well Kalkaska Coalition attended the 7th Annual International Overdose Awareness Day event hosted by Mom’s on a Mission at the Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park in Traverse City. This worldwide observance is dedicated to honoring the lives lost to overdose, supporting those left behind, and raising awareness about prevention and recovery.

During the event, the Live Well Coalition provided a prevention resource table, offering community members information on local services, safe practices, and ways to get involved in substance misuse prevention efforts here in Kalkaska County. Our team was honored to connect with attendees, share valuable resources, and stand alongside families and advocates committed to saving lives and building healthier communities.

Participating in this event was a powerful reminder that overdose impacts every community, yet together we can make a difference. By joining efforts locally and globally, we continue to break down stigma, spread awareness, and promote hope for recovery.

We are grateful to Mom’s on a Mission for hosting this important event for the seventh year in a row, and for allowing the Live Well Coalition to be part of it.
