Connecting with Community: Up North Prevention at Alpena Project Connect

Up North Prevention, a program of Catholic Human Services, recently took part in the Alpena Project Connect event to engage with community members and strengthen local partnerships. The event offered a meaningful opportunity to connect face-to-face with residents, answer questions, and share valuable information about available support services.

Staff created a welcoming space for open conversation—listening to community concerns and building relationships rooted in trust and understanding. Attendees learned more about Up North Prevention’s work in substance misuse education, youth outreach, and prevention strategies, as well as the broader behavioral health and support services offered by Catholic Human Services.

By participating in the event, Catholic Human Services demonstrated its comprehensive approach to community wellness—highlighting both the prevention and treatment resources available through its programs. The experience reaffirmed a shared commitment to improving well-being and increasing access to care throughout Northeast Michigan.
