Community Reentry Simulation Highlights Challenges of Life After Incarceration

Up North Prevention partnered with the Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium and the Crawford Partnership to End Substance Misuse to host a Community Reentry Simulation event at Kirtland Community College on May 21. The simulation offered participants and volunteers a firsthand look at the challenges individuals face when transitioning back into society after incarceration. Attendees gained insight into the barriers to successful reintegration, including housing, employment, and access to services. The event was well received by all 57 participants and sparked meaningful discussions about how communities can work together to support successful reentry and reduce the risk of recidivism.
