Career Day for Suttons Bay High School Seniors

On May 17 Leelanau Investing for Teens (LIFT) organized a Career Day for Suttons Bay High School seniors. Students had an opportunity to meet with local people from a variety of career fields including, but not limited to, an electrical line worker, local government official, and tattoo artist. Up North Prevention was there to provide information about substance misuse prevention, employment-related drug testing in Michigan, and the many career opportunities available related to mental health and substance misuse disorder prevention and treatment. The opening remarks for the day stressed that: 1.) Sometimes finding out what you don't want to do is as, or more, important than thinking about what you do want to do; and 2.) Keeping an open mind about your future is helpful. Many of us would never have dreamed in high school that we'd be doing what we do today! Congratulations to all the Leelanau County graduating seniors , and best wishes for a meaningful, successful, and healthy future.
