In November, the Live Well Kalkaska Substance Free Coalition (LWKSFC) sponsored and promoted the Kalkaska High School and Kalkaska Middle School talent show. Students entered two separate categories; one category was stage performances, such as singing and dancing, and the other was still arts exhibits, such as drawings and sculptures. Sponsors donated cash prizes for separate categories, including first to third place winners of both judges pick and people’s choice in each category. The LWKSFC is a great advocate and supporter of fine arts for Kalkaska students. The coalition helps to promote and sponsor both the annual talent show and the Kalkaska High School theater club. Building up the talents of youth helps to build self-esteem and, ultimately, resilience. Resilience can help our youth make positive life choices leading them to live both physically and mentally healthy lives
