Alcona SLS Launches “Road Show” Campaign

Alcona schools played host to Executive Director for Student Leadership Services, Dawn Flood who held a training exclusive to Alcona members.  The event, attended by 12 Alcona students, featured warm ups, and other engaging activities for Alcona students to use when speaking to youth in other schools.  The training stemmed from the group’s presentation at the 2025 SLS Statewide Conference- one that featured the idea of travelling to other schools to spread the prevention messaging of Students Leading Students, in an effort to start new chapters in the area.   Flood, the lead trainer and Executive Director saw this as a great opportunity to write a grant to grow this idea across the state.  Her successful grant through the Jamie Daniels Foundation will allow five chapters from across the state to train, travel, and spread the message of SLS to their neighboring school districts.  An added bonus for each Mentor chapter is the availability of start up dollars for activities and promotion, and dollars to help offset the cost of attending the statewide conference in March 2026, where they will present their work and results.
