Alcona High School Graduates Senior SLS Members

Six members of Alcona Schools 2026 graduating class will be moving on with the lessons learned from their time in Students Leading Students (SLS).  Among the students, four of them have been active since the program’s inception in Alcona in fall of 2023.  The SLS graduates even includes a one-year foreign exchange student from Spain, who originally joined to make friends at Alcona, where she started as a student this past fall.  Alcona’s advisor, Les Thomas, is happy about the culture of SLS at Alcona,  “To me, it’s exciting that SLS is being seen as a positive place where students - especially upper classmen, can come, learn, lead, and make a difference.”   With the loss of the six senior members, the program is actively looking for members for the ’26-’27 school year, especially from the incoming Freshmen class.  “This group of seniors has spent countless hours building and growing this program at Alcona, and I’m grateful for all of their leadership”  added  Thomas, “It’s up to us to keep building on what they started.”
