A group of 14 students and 5 adult leaders from Cheboygan County recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the CADCA Leadership Forum, where youth from across the country come together to learn about leadership, prevention, and creating positive change in their communities.
During the trip, the students attended workshops and discussions focused on youth leadership and substance use prevention. They had the chance to meet and connect with other young leaders from around the United States and learn practical ideas they can bring back to their own community.
One memorable part of the trip was meeting with staff from the office of Elissa Slotkin. During that conversation, the youth talked about concerns around vaping and discussed ways young people can help address the issue in Cheboygan County.
The group returned home excited to take what they learned and incorporate it into youth efforts in Cheboygan County. By sharing new ideas, leadership skills, and prevention strategies, they hope to strengthen local youth programs and continue supporting a healthy future for their community.
